With a harsh disposition and a fierce ability to survive, Esme has a tongue as sharp and quick as her blades. Forged in a world of piracy, she eventually escaped that life and ran to Silvermoon City with the idea of posing as nobility to slip into a society she believed she deserved.The plan fell through after joining a private militia, in which she was punished and absolved for her crimes of falsifying nobility and her past in piracy. With newfound legal innocence, she made a name for herself within the militia and Quel'thalas as a whole. She became the Fleet Commander of the militia and she was given a letter of marque by the Thalassian government, naming her a privateer.While the militia has since dissolved, she maintains her position as privateer, and her reputation is well-known because of it. She has been named Knight-Captain of the land known as Embertree, and she continues her work at sea, her life's goal: hunting and ridding the Azeroth of pirates.

To those with experience at sea, the name Esme Sunshard is synonymous with the death of pirates. She has Captained three ships, maintaining leadership over The Widow's Bane. She is directly responsible for the deaths of many pirates and is known to offer no quarter with no exceptions.

    Knight-Captain of Embertree    

Deep in southern Quel'thalas is a large territory by the name of Shallowbrook. Within that territory and protecting its borders are the lands known as Embertree. Esme Sunshard is the Knight-Captain that rules over these lands. The citizens are fiercely loyal to their Knight-Captain, as she personally lead the charge that wrangled the lands back from the "curse" that plagued them. Remnants of the curse remain, leaving the dark woods humming with old, unstable magic; the very same magic that imbues the abnormally large flora and fauna within the borders of Embertree.

    Past Crimes    

Esme's records with the Silvermoon Registry show nothing prior to her arrival a little less than two decades ago. The most prominent notes attached to her record are that she has been found guilty and punished for two crimes: 1) falsifying nobility, punished by ten public lashes, and 2) piracy, punished by forcible enlistment as a privateer for Quel'thalas.

Nearly every book shop and book collector knows the name Esme Sunshard, either from personal experience or by word of mouth. She is incessantly collecting every book she can get her hands on, regardless of genre or language. The word is that she has more than a few houses that have been hoarded with her collections of books; this is likely true, as she is nearly always reading and always on the lookout for new additions.
